To all the friends, allies and comrades I’ve had over the years.
You guys rock. We’ve had some fun times together. We’ve had some fun times apart. Sometimes we disagreed. Sometimes we laughed at noobs. Sometimes we fought tooth and nail for something we believed in. Sometimes we fought ignorance. Sometimes we lost.
Through it all, I was there. You were there. And we’ve had a fucking blast, haven’t we?
To all the enemies and adversaries I’ve made over the years.
LOL U MAD BRO?
Seriously though.
There really isn’t much to say.
I haven’t given up in the face of stress. What stress?
The trolls haven’t gotten to me. Trolls? I used to be one of those, and far better than the crap that constitutes trolling these days. For example, the only way I can actually use “LOL U MAD BRO” without punching myself in the balls is to use it ironically post-ironic.
There is no reason, no point of sudden change or sudden decision making, no pressure, no focal point.
This is simply where Critical QQ ends.
I’ve been blogging since October 2007.
The end of Critical QQ does not mark the end of blogging.
In the next couple weeks, there will be a new blog, a new domain name of some sort. The focus will be completely different though, revolving pretty much entirely around my efforts at fiction. If you’re a fan of my fanfic writings, then the new blog will be for you. Otherwise, this is where we part ways.
I say second last post because, obviously, a new post will go up announcing the new blog at some point.
This site will not be tampered with, it will not be deleted by my hand. It will remain here, a testament, intact, marking an era that has since passed on.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Omg nooooo! The internet just dropped 5%, sell sell sell!!! :
Bummer. I don’t wan’t to see this post to be honest. Please remove it.
/sadface
Nevertheless I hope that your further journeys in life give you all you could wish for and even more.
Thanks for everything
your innkeeper
Aw man it’s sad to see you go, but it’s been a great run. I first came here because of your leveling guides, and stuck around because I really enjoyed your style. Good luck with your new projects man.
Really sad to read about this. You have been inspirational. I know it sounds cliched and a bit mawkish but it’s true. Will miss the WoW posts terribly. Looking forward to your fiction.
Boo Hoo – you will be missed 😦
Awwww, I am so sad to see this post. Thanks for all the great posts over the last… eeeesh, 3 and a half years? best of luck with the fiction – I am sure it will be as entertaining as all the posts you have written here!
❤
Another one bites the dust?
Anywho, you’ve always been one of my faves. You have talent and I’m sure that will apply to whatever you write. I’ll follow your next blog 😀
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Sad panda has officially comitted sepukku!
Fare thee well, QQ’er of critical-ness.
WHAT IS THIS I DON’T EVEN
YEAH I MAD
PICS OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN
;_;
A shame indeed. This blog will be sorely missed by many. However, I will likely follow your exploits at writing as they are pretty awesome. Thanks mate!
lol, was always fun to read your stuff dropping by. We all move on to different things eventually.
Gonna miss seeing all them colorful words used all over the pages.
You shall be missed, sir, and I look forward to reading more about your fiction.
/salute
Looking forward to the “Last Post,” wherein you tell us the name of your new beginning. 🙂
Good luck, good sir!
Euri,
Thanks for sharing your critical QQs over the years – they were extremely insightful and thought-provoking. I look forward to following your fiction writing and wish you well in all your endeavors.

Dude, this sucks. Outside of Gnomageddon and “maybe” Krizzlybear, where am I going to get good Magey news? 😦
*sigh* well, I’m glad to hear that the site will still be up, because I’ve pointed a lot of folks over here.
Best of wishes to you. Hope all goes well in your future endeavors.
… also happy Towel day…
Maybe? I’m hurt ;_;
With Euri’s departure, I’m pressured to step in and fill those shoes. I really hope I can do so.
Trolls these days! Why, in my day, trolls had to speak Latin and Greek just to be *considered* for a commenter login…
A terrible loss for the blogging world, a bright candle of fun sadly snuffed out.
May your candle burn in greener pastures!
You’ve been a great writer and voice in the WoW blogosphere. Huge bummer.
Thanks and best of luck.
I know I’m not a blogger or a “regular” or whatever, but here goes.
Thanks. You’ve been great, and it pains me (though more in a figurative “soul” sense than in a physical one) to see you go. CriticalQQ has always been a place that I could come to give me exactly what I need. Whether it was the post about the The Dunning-Kruger Effect, which made me feel like a good player, or the sad, frustrating day posts that I could connect to since I have those days about as often as you.
You inspired me to roll up my own mage and level fire, burning through PvPing where people told me it was madness, and to try my own hand at some fiction.
You’ve always been real and down to Earth, which is something that’s been lost in today’s age, and have never been to say, well, anything. You realized your faults, pointed them out to us, and made fun of them.
I truly and honestly feel like I’m a better person because I read this blog, thank you so much. I’ll follow you wherever your ventures through life and the internet take you.
-Requizen, Paladin (Thunderhorn)
–now also Drësden, Mage (Thunderhorn)
Ach, that was supposed to be “have never been /afraid/ to say”
Aw, so sad! I loved your snarkiness and good sense of humor. The time you played WoW for 24 hours was truly epic and one of the most memorable blog posts I think I’ve ever read! Good luck in your new blogging venture. Have fun! I will come by this blog in the future to wistfully remember the good times. 🙂
/sadface
gutted mate 😦 I have enjoyed your blogging for a long time now – tools and trolls are the bane of our hobby.
It’s always sad to see a great blog come to an end because of the witterings of ill informed arseholes.
take care sir, you will be sorely missed.
Bubble bubble drowning mage,
Cried so much he filled the page.
Washed away ink.
Or so we think.
How ironic,
Inky electronic
Real damn shame, but you’ve gotta do what you gotta do.
My best source of information for all things magery. This blog will be missed!
Going to miss this blog, it was always a pleasure to read. Looking forward to your new endeavors.
Good luck!
/21 Gnome salute
Thanks for the ride so far Rip
Forsaken you maybe, but a Gnome of great honor you must have been
I will follow you when you rise once more from the grave in your new world
I believe you have the “Last Post” in the military sense over there. I know as an Aussie there is little more stirring than listening to the Last Post in the cold morning air on ANZAC day.
This is how I felt when I read your news… stirred.
Ode of Rememberance
I look forward to the fiction as I have loved your previous dabbling.
Gnomer and Out!
Lol, good one !
But it is’nt the 1st of April, so get this post out of the way and get on with your QQ’ing!
Anon demands!
.. thanks anyway, been a pleasure to read.
Farewell! Excelsior! May the Forces of Evil become confused on the way to your house!
Been a great read. Thanks for all that.
You sir are one of the greatest mages I have known, and inspiration to me, and other mages.
Sad day indeed, but on the other hand I look forward to your new endeavors.
In honor of you my blogroll will always have this blog in it, and for the next two weeks. Everyone is fricking going to Stonard. LOL!.

fukin quitter, just like a mage.
😦
Gonna be sad to see you go, started as your site being the ONLY wow related site NOT blocked by websense, turned into a daily read because your writing style is killer. From one blogger to another I must say your style and personal approach influenced my own blog tremendously(thank you).
I learned a lot about how mages think and behave which made killing them easier, but in a weird sense I started to respect you all more.
Take care and best of luck in your future endeavors.
Resident Warrior Troll(not racially),
Blackthought
This makes me soo sad…
Sad enough to actually say it, as I’m more of a lurker than a commenter. I will miss all your amazing posts, most of which had me laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe.
But I will follow you to the next stage and wish you all the luck. I look forward to reading more of your stories.
Sir,
You have made me a better fire mage, and I will always recklessly set things ablaze with skill because of you. I will always remember my most favorite piece of motivational advice you gave us fire mages.
“Frost specializes in controlling the situation, via snares and roots and the like. Fire, on the other hand, specializes in setting the situation on fire, and throwing more fire at the situation until the situation is a pile of ash.”
When everyone laughed at my choice of spec, you were there telling all fire mages Yes you can… set random critters on fire. Yes you can… fight viable in PVP, yes you can raid with Fire! Fire is FIRE! MASTER OF DESTRUCTION AND CHAOS. YOU BREAK SOMETHING WE BURN IT DOWN SO YOU CAN START IT A NEW. WE ARE DA FIRE MAGE AND WE BURN DOWN THE WORLD OF AZEROTH’S PROBLEM TO ASHES SO WE CAN FIX THE WORLDS SCREW UPS! GOT A HORDE ON YOUR TAIL! SET IT ABLAZE, GOT CANCER, NUKE IT! MESSED UP THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR HOUSE, ARSON! HAVE A HANGNAIL! HOTSTREAK! FIRE ALL THE WAY! FIRE IS THE ANSWER! FIRE IS THE LIGHT!~ WOOO!~
… ermhrm. Sorry.
You made me go Fire.
This is a sad day.
On the other hand, I wanted you to write more fan fiction.
But i’ll certainly miss your giant rants, they were the highlight of my day.
I just want to join the others here and express my appreciation for your blog. I have greatly enjoyed reading it and have learned from your insights.
Best of luck in your future endeavors, including your new blog and writing fiction.
Euri,
Your blog will be missed. I used it for mage advice, but since I have stopped playing (again), I enjoyed your writing. Looking forward to your fiction site.
Markus
“The sky is red, I don’t understand,
Past midnight I still see the land.
People are sayin’ the gnome is damned,
He makes you burn with a wave of his hand.
The city’s a blaze, the town’s on fire.
The gnome’s flames are reaching higher.
We were fools, we called him liar.
All I hear is “Burn!”
(with all respect to Deep Purple)
Depressing… nobody else rants like you!
No better day to quote DNA then on Towel Day.
Thank you for your time and emotion. I’ve shared many of your posts with people in and out of the game and they thoroughly enjoyed it. And I may have not pvp’d at all if it wasn’t for your smart words. Thanks for that too.
I’ll be looking forward to the next project you start.
It’s too bad you’re leaving, as I’ve always enjoyed your posts. I’ll definitely be following your new blog, as the stories you’ve written so far have been very good.
Once Cataclysm comes out, is there a possibility that you’d make an exception to the “last post” deal for some spec guides? I mean, you don’t have to, cause lord knows they’ll be all around the internet, but yours were also hilarious, and insightful. Many links were given to people needing mage advice.
You’ve had some of the best insight, opinions, ideas, and, even, rants out of all of the bloggers that I read. Keep writing – fiction or not, I’ll keep reading.
Hate to see ya go man, great reading you though.
Heroes, Lost, 24, and now Critical QQ. What’s next, North Korea?!
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
I am really sad to see you go, but there again you have been producing astonishingly high quality writing for two years, and it had to end sooner or later.
This blog had a great combination of useful advice, humour, and moments of beautiful, genuinely foaming at the mouth anger.
I didn’t agree with all of it, but you inspired me at times – I levelled a mage through PvPing pretty much inspired by reading this blog.
I used to read a lot of WoW blogs, and for my money this was pretty much the best of them.
Thanks
So rather than read your Mage QQ I get to read your writing which I do love oh so very much? Sign me up.
i’ll miss all the Mage talk, to be sure, but I’ve come to love your writing style, screw that, I loved it from the get go and that story about the Lordaeron Knight & his lover.
I can haz moar?
I think this might be the last of the original blogs that was left from the time I first started reading blogs. Hell, it was the inspiration for both me rolling a mage, and me starting a blog. Good luck Rip, and you can be sure I’ll be reading you no matter what you decide to write about. /salute
I have been following you for years and just wanted to say THANK YOU for all the information and wisdom you have imparted to us mages. You will be dearly missed my cyber friend. Good luck in your new fiction venture, I hope to read more from you in times to come. Thank you for all you have done for the WoW community and beyond, we (at least I) appreciate it!

why you have to make me sad and stuff
it’s a shame to see you close this down. but before you go can you do 1 thing for your followers =D?
i remember you saying you write posts weeks, or even months in advance, and save them to trickle out later.
would it be possible to post the remaining, unposted, works?
just to show us what would’ve been here had you not left.
thanks for your time.
I leveled a mage to about 62 during TBC… then left her stranded, to take up huntarding again [don’t judge me].
Until recently, I was never a huge fan of arenas [although I’ve become an addict within the last couple months].
That said? I love[d] this blog. Your writing style is unique and refreshing, and even though I wasn’t directly involved in the things you were discussing [except for some of your rants… those were almost always good for a HELL YES!], I read ’em anyway, and was able to gain some insight into parts of the game I hadn’t thought about.
I’ll definitely be keeping tabs on the new one. Best of luck to you. You’re a frood who always knows where your towel is.
No way?
Can’t the fiction and qq blogs co-exist…
Is this WoW fiction only? I just am not a big fan of that genre. Although I like reading creative writing pieces.
Well it’s very sad if this is the end of criticalqq. But only because it offered so much entertainment and information.
Am I still allowed to quote you when I need some real QQ to put down in a conversation?
Aw, sad to see you closing up CQQ, I’ll miss your pages of rants 😦
But I shall look forward to new stories – on with the show!
❤
What else could I possibly say, except to say that I’ll be delighted to read you wherever you post, and…
I luv you, bra!
You were my inspiration, THE mage. From you I learned that there is more than one way to blow up the cat, that trying out other specs was fun, and got the idea to make my nickname “The Consultant” (specializing in killing things in many fun ways of course).
You sir, shall be ever remembered for your QQ, and will be ever quoted as a true master of magery, on the level of faxmonkey, maybe his more sane little brother.
I salute you, sir troll, and plan on following you in your new endeavor.
There are no words to describe what i’m feeling right now. You probably think there are words to describe what i’m feeling right now, and in most cases you’d be right. But you’re wrong.
/cry
We’ll miss you.
Please do what an earlier commenter suggested and post the posts you already have finished.
You’ll still be on Duskwood, though, yes? 😦
This was by far my favorite blog, it’s sad to see it go. However, it’s good to know you won’t disappear forever, and I will be looking forward to your fiction writing!
/salute
I keep checking my calendar but no… unless this post was somehow time-traveled a month and 24 days late, it is just too sad.
I look forward to your excellent works of fiction, with high hopes that occasionally they will be interspersed with your wonderful rants and ponderings =)
I’m sad to see you go because I got a lot of great info from you. And your rants were epic.
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar and I wish you luck in your future endeavors. See you on the other side.
Yours was/is the only blog I read regularly. The lol’s were epic, and many, when reading what you’ve written and I have very much enjoyed your fiction writing. I’m actually majoring in English, at the moment, but plan on either switching to Creative Writing of a Literature specialty of some sort.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with on your new blog 🙂
But the real question is this.. will you be able to stay away from your desire to “troll” on Critical QQ with Cataclysm comes out?
Throm-Ka, Euripedes.
I’ve been a reader for a while, not as long as some people here, but I have loved your posts since a search on leveling a frost mage brought me here. You’re witty, intelligent, and a mage among mages. We are honored to count you among us, and know that your blog will have a standing place in my heart. I will be following you to your new blog- your writing style is amazing, and I look forward to the new blog, even as I know that I will miss Critical QQ deeply.
Aka’Magosh
There are two type of blogs I subscribe to: those who I read on a nearly daily basis, and those that I immediately read upon seeing Google Reader notify me of a new post.
Most unfortunate that I should have one less subscription that I will immediately drop what I am doing to read.
Good luck in your future blog and life, I loved reading your blog.
And as I’m not good at all at writing this kind of comments, I’ll stop here.
Oh, bummers… I’ve been silently following your for two years now and it just doesn’t feel right to not be able to read your amazingly entertaining and hilarious posts… However, I enjoyed your fiction stories as well and I’m glad you will continue in that direction. Looking forward to your new blog.
Lost ends, now CQQ…
Wow, I’m really sad to hear this….like others, I found you for the levelling guides on my arcane mage and stuck around.
Heck, I dont even play Warcraft anymore and I still read your blog faithfully. Always well written, often funny, and you have a great way of cutting to the chase.
Thanks for all the fun.
Sir, it’s been a pleasure. Thanks for everything.

Rip,
I have enjoyed this blog for the past 2 1/2 years. I will miss your ramblings. I take solice in the fact that I still get to see you in guild chat, and these other loyal fans do not.
I will enjoy your new blog, I’m sure.
I have started every sentence in this comment with ‘I’.
I am a narcissistic fuck.

First off I play a Warlock and I still made it a point to read your blog. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer as the saying goes 🙂
That said I want to thank you for you fun and informative post over the years. Though you could not inspire me to revive my dead Mage from Un’goro Crater and make him my 5th 80 you did convince me that all Mages should not be summarily Seduced and doted up for a slow and painful death.
Geez… I hope they don’t pull my lock card. Good luck in all you do and again thank you.
Good luck with the new direction and thanks for all the QQ. Change is good.
Sad to see you go…are you still going to play wow or is that in the bag as well?
Shame, but I could see this coming and it’s true that all good things come to an end.
You’ve obviously got a talent for writing so GL with your next venture. I always enjoyed your unique style of informative but opinionated and you’ve made me laugh countless times, so thankyou for that.
This news, though indeed sad, was not unexpected. After your epic rant and following sabbatical, you didn’t seem to be the same mage we have all grown to lov.! A bit like Dylan after his motorbike crash and then holing up in Woodstock to go all country… Anyway farewell and thank you for all your brilliant musings ( I went arcane pvp for you baby!) and good luck with the fiction – another facet of your outpourings I’ve also really enjoyed, along with your self-analysis on said product.
Cheers Rip!

Not completely unsurprising but still a real shame nevertheless. Whilst i came quite late to your blog I have thoroughly enjoyed the banter, witicisms and helpful hints to maging and wow.
Best of luck in your next endeavour and i look forward to reading your fiction 🙂

Sad day
This truly is a sad day indeed. This was the only blog I ever read regularly.
I’m afraid the only way I can allow you to do this is if you still throw around the occasional rant on your new blog. So while your writing skills are not bad at all, you’d better throw them rants around often, ‘kay? Your rants were the highlight of this site and the epitome of your QQ efforts.
I’ve been quietly reading your blog for ages, but this is my first& only comment… thanks for all the smart and funny posts 🙂
;(
You’ll be missed…
…
I stopped playing wow since January.. but didn’t stop reading here…
Thank you for all posts … =D
…
Posting in epic closing! Like others, I haven’t played in over a year, but continued to frequent your prose. Your advice, knowledge, and tears will be sorely missed. Take care and good luck on all your future endeavors.
first chanced upon your blog during the pirate bay incident and have been checking at least weekly for updates ever since. quit wow long ago so this site was my only source of wow updates since i couldn’t be bothered to read elsewhere. love your writing style, it’s thought provoking and interesting, and the QQ was world class lol. will miss the stuff you post here!
and of course will continue reading on your new blog. cheers dude.
Aww, sorry to see you go! This is the first (and for the most part, only) serious WoW blog I follow. I learned tons from you, even though I’ve never played mage. Thanks!
Hope you have fun with your new blog!
Shoot, right when I start posting you decide to quit CQQ…
I still have your archive of other blogs to look foward too!
That is, posts within your blogs, not entire blogs.
With CriticalQQ shutting down the internet just became 20% less intelligent.
Farewell to one of my favorite bloggers of all time.
/continues to wait for last post and link to new site
You can’t get rid of us that easily! 🙂
You will recieve the only farewell, that you will respect. Fucking pussy assed quitter, take you little flotation device and your lack of qq and go and write your little fanfiction shit. I will probably follow, but only to poke fun at you and laugh at you, certainly not because I enjoy reading that crap. Nooooo.
Peace pussy,

Very sad. This is the only wow blog I read and it was so awesome I did not need another one. Like all of your devoted readers I’ll keep it in my bookmarks and randomly revisit in the hopes that you’ve changed your mind months or years down the line and then get hooked on the old posts that are still here 🙂
I’m deeply sad to see you go. I stumbled on your page one day .. when I was looking up information to help my then, newish to the game boyfriend with information on his mage. I stayed for your writing. My main has always and will always be a priest. But I’ve recently taken up the art of mage craft. And my mage just dinged 74. I’m sad to know you wont still be here when she hits level 80. For all the laughs, incredible writing, and awesome personality which shined through your words. I thank you. You never know how much you meant to me.
You sir are one gay fish
