So there exists an addon called “Underachiever”. What this addon does is allow you to link fake achievements.
Let’s say I want to do Digimon, the latest boss in Archavon’s vault. I whisper a raid leader, and he says “whisper achiev or no inv”. But I haven’t done the guy yet! What do I do now?
Well, you could always just not get the invite because the raid leader is an idiotic prick. The guy probably backpedals in PvP! But then… what does that gain you? You miss out on a dull, boring loot pinata boss, but then again, you aren’t looking to raid VoA for actual difficult content, are you? No, you are there for the loot pinata, not the loot hungry-man-eating-jaguar-hiding-in-the-jungle-somewhere.
Solution? Grab the Underachiever addon, and you will automaticall win any and every epeen contest without any difficulty. As much as I despise curse.com, here’s a link. Terrible site, but the addon is worth it.
Anyway, this Underachiever thing is a very robust addon. You can link any achievement in your log, and it will show up to anyone who clicks on it as if you had completed it. You can specify the date, even specify some parts of an achievement complete and others not, and even fake achievements for other players if you so wish.
And yes, it comes with a complete list of every single Feat of Strength in the game, so you can link those too. Did you earn the Scarab Lord title? Well of course you did, you High Warlord and Gladiator in every season you. Hell, link the “Server first level 80 warlock!” when you’re playing a level 45 paladin if you want.
(Note: it can’t ordinarily link achievements you haven’t “unlocked”. For example, you can’t link the Tribute to Insanity achievement if you haven’t done the Tribute to Skill first for ToGC. BUT. If you have Overachiever installed as well, you totally can, as that shows you every achievement in the game regardless of what you have actually accomplished. And of course, Underachiever can fake all of those easy.)
You ask, what is the point of such an addon? I tell you: EPEEN.
Amongst the unwashed masses, the size of your epeen is the end all, be all stat. It doesn’t matter that you have 4pt10 and can pull 11k DPS on Putricide. What matters is the size of your dick.
With Underachiever, your dick can be however large you want it to be.
See a couple guys arguing in trade chat? They’re linking the “Boned!” and “I’ve Gone and Made a Mess” achievements and slapping their wowcocks all over trade chat?
Link your Lich King 25man kill achievement! The sheer size of your dick smashing into their poor faces will silence them utterly.
You can’t educate these people. You can’t make them smarter, or deal rationally with them. It is foolish and pointless to even try.
The only language they understand is penis.
So link them your Scarab Lord, your Sunwell clears, your Tribute to Insanity 25man achievements.
“But what if they armory me?”
Haha! Ahahaha! Hahaha! Good one!
…
Well, the chances of a wowcocking moron even considering attempting even the most rudimentary of research is laughably low, but if they do… well, the armory is a pretty buggy thing, isn’t it? I mean it isn’t even showing my 4.2k rated 3s arena team!
6 months away and I’m starting to have trouble remembering why WoW was addictive.
Same here.
One of these days, the next Legendary sword to drop off an endgame boss will literally be a giant phallus. And I will laugh hysterically.
Man-Sword of Sun Blockage?
Nope, Domed Sword of Epeendum.
Thank the Gods I’m a mage, My robes hide my massive Epeen real good, and allows easy access to it.
“The only language they understand is penis.”
I think that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever read.
*goes to babelfish*
*cuts and pastes post*
*translates English -> Penis*
Oooooh… now I get it…
*deletes photoshop*
Do you mean that when I’m on this toon and I get ridiculous requests to link achievements I no longer can send these offensive asshats my macro?
/macro
This is an alt of “X”, currently ranked in the top 10 of all hunters on the realm “Y”, according to two separate gear/progression scoring websites.
/end macro
Followed simultaneously by macro #2
/macro
Unfortunately, after review, the only list I find you on is for the top 10 Realm Asshats and therefore disregard my request to join as you seem to be unqualified to lead a group if you are basing your decisions solely on achievements.
/end macro
I know, by admission, very elitist. However, I get VERY offended when people try to exclude others. I find the whole aversion to teaching and helping others quite sophomoric and have no tolerance for the idiots on the realm who try to flex their epeen, perpetuate this bullshit and base their opinions solely on gear and achievements.
You can send them the macro still if you really want to!
Just include your hardmode achievements for most of ICC along with it. They’ll be so impressed they’ll beg you to carry their scrub asses through the easiest raid content in game!
I can understand asking for achievements more so than asking for a Gearscore. At least with an achievement link the individual has theoretically seen the encounter and therefore might be aware of what color bad they should not be standing in.
The problem stems from the pressure placed on raid leaders to lead a successful group. I know Gnomer has written about the one-wipe pansies before, it’s a real struggle to get a raid together and keep it going. By requesting an achievement link you increase the odds of success and decrease the odds of people leaving.
If more people wouldn’t bail on the first wipe or weren’t so derogatory to individuals that suffer from nothing more than lack of experience in that particular raid, it wouldn’t be so much of an issue.
I have a friend that leads pugs. He sometimes asks for an achievement link. But if someone whispered him and said, “hey, I don’t have this achievement but I’ve read the fight/watched the vid and I can follow directions” I bet he would get an invite.
Unfortunately Arioch from my experience your friend is the exception rather than the norm. It seems to me that there are a lot of WOW players who get off on belittling others and making the life of new players sheer hell at times.
As an example here’s what happen to me on my first attempt at Gnomeregon a couple of weeks back.
Upon entering the dungeon I inform the group that I’m a new player who hasn’t seen this dungeon yet so could they please go slow and explain the fights to me. I’m told to shutup and just kill stuff.
Ok, that’s the first sign that I most likely should have left there and then, but I don’t like quitting groups so I decided to stick it out. Most of the party is bragging about their 80′s and bickering over loot, whilst I’m mostly remaining silent, trying my best not to out threat the tank and to keep up with the group.
Then in the midst of an extremely chaotic fight I hear the following…
“Warning Intruder alert, Intruder alert..” and before I know it I’m dead (the rest of the party is fine I’m the only one who died).
Que the party chat screen.
Ret Pally: Some people are complete and utter morons.
Me: What happened?
Ret Pally: You’re an idiot that’s what happened
Me: First off stop the abuse
Ret Pally: I will once you learn the VERY BASICS of the game you dumbass.
Me: Second please tell me what happened?
Ret Pally: You aggroed every mob in the room you stupid moron.
Tank: Bad Mage.
Priest (posts dps meter and my frost mage is towards the bottom): Look at this guys the mage’s dps is pathetic. Stupid bad mage, learn to play noob.
Me: Ok I don’t have to take this abuse from you lot I’m out of here, have fun.
At which point I quit the group still unaware of what happen and how I ‘aggroed’ the room. My wife (who is a hardcore WOW player) explained it to me later on and ran the instance with me so I could experience it, but I have to say that first run through almost turned me off WOW completely
In such a situation, Raventiger, you need to be able to prove that your dick is bigger than theirs. It’s actually pretty easy.
They call you out for being bad? Call them out for being even worse than you are.
Sure, you aggrod the entire room, but hey, you just thought that maybe the tank was capable of handling it. I mean, he was bragging about his 80s so much, you thought he could handle the most trivial of additional challenges.
I mean hell, on your main you cleared sarth 3d 10man in blues.
“Link your Lich King 25man kill achievement! The sheer size of your dick smashing into their poor faces will silence them utterly.”
…. they need an emote for that.
As a follow-up, I find it highly ironic, especially in a PuG, that people want to be OP (as a group) to a raid task, as if a 25-man anything (VoA or otherwise) should be on farm status by 25 people that have never raided, nor in most cases, even heard of the others they are running with in the raid – gimme a break!
If your looking for raids on farm status, join a guild and run the weekly raids with your mates. If you happen to miss the raid night that week, you should be expected to suck it up and deal with the PuG crap (read…wipes, repair bills and people dropping). Otherwise, what’s the point of being part of raiding guilds. I mean, let’s face it, PuGs FARMING raid content? Am I the only one seeing the ridiculousness of that?
As an aside, from now on, I think the next time I have to join a raid PuG and I’m asked for an achievement link or gearscore, I’m gonna ask the raid leader for them to link theirs to me so I can confirm that they’re up to the task of leading a bunch of misfits.
That being said, anybody wanna do a PuG rep run of ICC? I wouldn’t mind the last ring upgrade. All noobs welcome – just bring your gold and lots of time and patience.
Speaking of ICC rep runs, I got into a 10m run just to upgrade my ring. It was a pug, and it sucked. Two traps were pulled, and the two adds came at the same time, and after that all hell broke loose. We had a DK tank and a Pally tank. The DK tank turned the first add away from the group and tanked it there, like a good tank, and then the pally continued to aggro the second add, run out of the room, resetting the adds when they were almost dead… about 10 times…. We kept telling him what he was doing wrong, and trying to deal with it, but he insisted every time that tanking them outside the room was the easiest way to tank them. 5 wipes later group disbanded… /facepalm
btw great site Euripedes, I’m not a mage (unholy DK/ surv hunter) but great stuff here
It is sort of a big pressure to have achievements if you want to run VoA. I understand why raid leaders do it, because if they put together a group that fails they are the ones at fault. But when you raid lead no one listens to your explains anyway, so ya I stopped raid leading PuGs. But another thing is that I have four 80s. So asking me to link an achieve the week a new boss is out is a bit much. It just came out, and I haven’t gotten all my toons through. Most raid leaders will accept me saying that I know the fight, but am on an alt, but still it is pressure on the leader as well as the player. No win situation.
I suddenly remembered this little i-strap-on:
http://www.ziuo.net/achievements/
Create a completed achievement C&P link based on the wowhead achievement url. You don’t even need an addon.
P.S. tip for those that are want to try and use fake achievements for pugs: link the 10 man achievement for 25′s and vice versa, so you’ll still seem legit when they see you get the achievement at the end. You never know if there’s some idiot in the group that’s going to spam trade with your malpractices if he notices.
Then you can just claim you were linking the achievement from a different character.
After the run, likely nobody is going to question or notice when you get an achievement you claimed to have already gotten. Even if they do, nobody is going to have a chat log lengthy enough to have a working link to your initial achievement (unless they have a chat addon of some sort, which many do, and even then depends on the addon. If it is one that just saves the text, the achievement you linked won’t be clickable, and thus they have no proof.)
Even then, you can simply let your performance stand for itself.
As a general rule, idiots don’t notice. That is why they are idiots.
I didn’t make it up, I’ve seen it happen. Not that many people cared though, most were happily surprised it could be faked, me included. Come to think of it, it was actually a good thing.
Off topic to the post, but I thought I’d share my arcane PVP dabblings. Love the idea of your Arcane Shatter spec, and I’ve been trying it in BGs since. Only just now trying out Arenas for the first time. I’m paired with a Disc Priest, and with the upcoming changes to IA, I thought I would try out speccing out of it, while keeping the rest the same. Where to put those points? Missile Barrage. It procs off frostbolts too, just at a lesser rate. It gives me two viable nukes. It gives me two forms of burst, Shatter, and AB/MB, and if I get the chance to freecast, ABSpamMBAM dishes it out. I can also switch schools if I’m school locked (though I’m more frequently simply silenced). Getting a full MBAM on a frozen target is just gold.
One interesting thing: I get more Missile Barrage procs off frostbolt than I do Frostbite Procs.
Some issues I have: Interrupts (latency is 300-400ms, it just rarely happens); Fishing for a Frostbite proc that never seems to happen before I need to stop FB Spam; Frostbite always seems to break 2/3rds of the way through a cast, so getting the Shatter combos off properly is rare. I frequently don’t bother and just POM/FFB or AB off the bat.
Oh, and warlocks paired with Druid/Mage…yay CC chain while they blow up my healer. We both need to L2P.
I tend to avoid VoA runs because of the sheer idiocy that some people display in them.
I’ve had a run where several raiders out right did not DPS on emalon and just stood on the stairs for 2 minutes before calling the rest of the raid noobs and dropping out of the group.
I’ve had a Warrior roll on Spell Power plate with full seriousness on actually needing it.
I’ve even had the token Ninja paladin that pretended to hand gear out normally but left the paladin gear for last and stole the holy gear from another paladin who out rolled him, he was a worthless ret paladin aswell.
I swear you could gather several bloggers together and between them they could write the VoA Chronicles, which will not also be rediculously long it will be full of the biggest examples of human stupidy ever to grace the World of Warcraft.
Very funny, but so very true. I saw a guys epeen so big that you had to pay a toll to get by it.
So today in Dal’ I see a lfm post in /2 for 10ToGC.
Eager to join I quickly reply, and it so happened that I had ran 25ToC with this same person earlier today. He replies back,”what ur gear score?”. As if 10ToGC is difficult I respond back to him,”Almost as high as my raid awareness and knowledge of my class.” He snaps back,”O.o brb wowheroes here i come”.
Ignored.
Awesome post, had me in stitches!
I love Underachiever, it’s allowed me to get into many a pug – although I must note that if a group is using achievements and gearscore to select people, it’s more likely to fail than not.
If people complain about you faking your achievements, you can reply by posting you topping the DPS or healing meters (harder if you’re the tank). The people who are impressed by gearscore and achievements will also consider, for example, healing meters a good measure of whether or not someone’s doing a good job (sorry, disc priests).
Hi there, I want to subscribe for this web site to take latest updates, so
where can i do it please help.
You really make it appear so easy along with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually one thing that I believe I
might never understand. It seems too complicated and very large for
me. I’m taking a look ahead for your next submit, I will try to get the grasp of it!
