Is it weird for me to listen to myself talk for lengthy periods of time? I mean, I suppose every time somebody talks, they have no choice but to listen to what they say. This is a recording, though. I guess it’s a little strange.
I am the blogger of the week at Twisted Nether! Odd jokes, insults, and awkward pauses abound!
Hopefully there isn’t a lot of odd, heavy breathing this time.
My mic is a little bit crappy. The jack on it is a little… bent. It’s about a 20 degree angle, where it plugs in, so if you hear any weird stuff from my mic… that is why. It’s still superior to the built in mic on this laptop, though. Where’s the built in mic located, on one of the fan blades or something?
Consider this the alt text for the podcast.

I kinda buggered poor Bre’s introduction. The information was current the first time we did the recording. This time… not so much. And of course I forgot to update the about page. It’s fixed now! Sorry Bre.
Though there is no excuse for thinking I’m on blogspot! Grrr! NERD RAGE!

I don’t particularly think I’m leveling quickly. I’m not speed leveling or anything. I’m reading the quest text, I’m following story lines, and just generally immersing myself in the game. And getting lots of experience for it.

First guild: How We Roll. Guild largely fell apart and went inactive within a couple months of me joining.
Then, along came Lost Cause. That, too, largely fell apart and went inactive within months.
Anathema, even that mighty raiding guild, never really got back off the ground after christmas break, and splintered apart this spring.
So hopefully Stay Frosty doesn’t.

*click click* DAMN YOU CRAPPY MICROMOPHONE!
–
ALSO YES OK I’M ONLY 19 YEARS OLD. That’s right, you’re all loyal fans of someone who can barely make more than $2000 a month. HA HA HA.

<3 Pike.

Please don’t ask me what my /played is. Please. It hurts me.

345 gold spent on respecs is actually inaccurate. I’ve only spent 335 gold. Slight difference. But still very, very sad.
–
Honestly, I’m not very attached to my water elemental. I know some are *cough* KRIZZLY *cough*, but to me, it just a tool. If I need it, I’ll call it out. If not, I won’t.
*awkward pause*

YES OK I REALLY DID MAKE A VIDEO TO GET INTO THE HELLO KITTY BETA. WHAT.
–
Kingdom of Loathing is hysterical. I highly recommend it. Also, possessed cans of cranberry. Also, I think I pronounced “vaguely” wrong.
–
Spelled “Panzerfaust”. I sort of totally suck when playing a warrior, so it’s probably for the best I deleted him before I embarrassed myself.

The macro I’m talking about is one of those account wide dealies that has something like:
/cast Innervate
/cast Evocate
And that way, you can use the same macro for multiple characters.
Also, another advantage to playing multiple characters is to have similar abilities in similar slots.
For instance, comparing my hunter and mage. Icy Veins/Berserking shares a button with Rapid Fire/Berserking. Polymorph is bound to “E” on the mage, and Freezing Trap is bound to “E” on the hunter. PvP trinket is bound to tilde on the mage, and tilde is Feign Death on the hunter. Make sense?
Also: supposedly Blizzard is going to change the way these knockback effect thingies work. Probably prompted by all those hunters throwing themselves down mountains with Disengage. So maybe the Blastwave thing won’t be around very much.

SNEAK ATTACK! SNEAK ATTACK! DEVASTATING CRITICAL! AAAHAHAHAHA! I am ze leet haxxorz.

I say “at least” when discussing FFB as, of course, if you have the Chaotic Skyfire Diamond… it’s even more. Yay massive crits!
–
My keybinds, for those interested, as a leveling FFB build:
- Frostfire Bolt (Bound to 1)
- Ice Lance (Bound to 2)
- Fireblast (Bound to 3)
- Frost Nova (Bound to 4)
- Scorch (Bound to 5)
- Mana Gem (Bound to 6)
- Trinket number one (Bound to 7). Typically a damage trinket will go here.
- Pie (Bound to 8 ) OM NOM NOM.
- Conjure Mana Gem (Bound to 9)
- Dampen Magic (Bound to 0)
- Armor spell of choice (currently Molten Armor) (Bound to -)
- Arcane Intellect / Arcane Brilliance (Bound to =). This is a macro, allowing me to cast AI or ABrill from the same button.
- Combustion (Bound to Q)
- Blastwave (Bound to W)
- Polymorph (Bound to E). This is a macro, too. Holding down alt will cast Polymorph on my focus.
- Blink (Bound to R)
- Remove Curse (Bound to T)
- Mana Shield (Bound to ALT + T)
- Trinket number two (Bound to ~). This is where my PvP trinket goes. Currently another damage trinket.
- Invisibility (Bound to ALT + Q)
- Flamestrike (Bound to ALT + W)
- Evocation (Bound to ALT + R)
- Mount macro (Bound to ALT + A)
- Arcane Explosion (Bound to ALT + S)
- Ice Block (Bound to A)
- Icy Veins/Berserking macro (Bound to S)
- Dragon’s Breath (Bound to D)
- Counterspell (Bound to F). Also a macro. Holding alt will counterspell my focus.
- Cone of Cold (Bound to G). Holding alt used to cast rank 1 CoC. Now…
- Summon Pie (Bound to ALT + G)
- Spellsteal (Bound to ALT + ~)
- Fire Ward (Bound to ALT + 1)
- Frost Ward (Bound to ALT + 2)
- Pyroblast (Bound to ALT + 3)
- Slow Fall (Bound to ALT + 4)
- Blizzard (Bound to ALT + D)
That’s really everything that’s important. The rest are miscellaneous stuff like portals and RoR. So, yes, 44 keybinds, though technically that should be 41 with this current build. Those other three are all water elemental controls.

Mana dump mana dump mana dump. From a junkyard to a dump to a junkyard again. Progress? You decide.
I may have exaggerated just a little on the “equal to a hunter pet” thing. Just a little.

15 second DoT, ticks every 3 seconds, at 3, 6, 9, 12, 15. At a 7.5 second duration, only tick number 3 and 6 will actually tick.

HOLY CRAP MIC PROBLEMS. LIKE HOOOOOOLY CRAP.
*crackle* *crick* cane-*crinkle crick* *pop* -silence- *crackle* *crackle* OLD TURN IN *silence* GONE TO *crackle* HELLF *pop* *pop* MADNESS. *crackle* that’s what it is now.
That whole part was taken out.
I had hoped they left it in, as it was HILARIOUS.

Huge shout out here to Maateline, who walked up to and gave me polymorph: turtle. Most likely, Polymorph: Sheep, will be the rarest form of polymorph a few months down the line.
Oh look, everyone is different!

What’s going to be the moniker for stupid Death Knight people? Deathtards? LOLknights?

Taken straight from the history of the night elves, or rather, the Kaldorei:
Early Kaldorei civilization was defined by direct manipulation of magic drawn from the Well of Eternity to create and sustain their society. The constant use of the well attracted attention from Sargeras and the Burning Legion, and their coming resulted in a massive war known as the War of the Ancients. The war had grave consequences, for even though the combined might of Azeroth’s mortal races were victorious, the continent of Kalimdor was shattered.
Oh hey, and didja know that Azshara, the queen of the naga, is the most powerful mage on Azeroth, and likely anywhere? She was going to marry Sargeras, you know.
Truly an excellent decision by Blizzard to force every single player in Dalaran to ask mages for help.

Random awesome moment in Grizzly Hills:
You get a quest to go kill grizzlies. So you do. But! The scripting here is more advanced than bears aimlessly wondering around.
All the bears are fishing. In the river. And there are actual fish in the river for them to catch. And when they catch a fish, they wander off somewhere… sit down… and EAT IT.
Something that simple, bears doing something that bears would normally do in their natural habitat, absolutely blew me away. Oh man. So awesome.
–
SO VERY SAD.
–
Yes. I call it ROFLSTOMP. WHAT.
–
My sources tell me the night elf capital is called “Something or other.”
That pie was so lonely

The classic “Which bottle did the mage piss in?” scenario.

AHMUH GUNNA FLAH MA WARRIOH KIET!
Stolen from Egotistical Priest: DoucheKnights
Your keybinds are fascinating to me. I just blogged on isheepthings about my spell managment troubles, and most of my problem is that I haven’t been able to figure out how to bind enough things to keys.
This newb would appreciate a tutorial?
<3 Rip. Loved the interview :3
KoL! Yay! Great interview. You sound a lot like my buddy who got me into WoW in the first place. Gotta love anyone who would know the exact date he created his account. Hmm…uh oh, I think I might be a fangirl. >.>
@Ace: Uh-oh, I know the date I started….(1/28/05)
Heh. I remember that post on the realm forums. What you didn’t mention was that you got ripped apart by the realm for using another friend’s account to post (thus trashing his reputation). This was because your own account had been forum banned.
I didn’t mention that because I had forgotten that.
Let’s see…
I assumed at the time that my account was forum banned because of something I had done on the forums.
I had been given a forum suspension, because of something I did in game. Or rather, something I said.
In trade chat, I made a joke about how CoC was better than SoC, something to the effect of “never put a SoC over my CoC”. I was reported, and given a forum suspension for that.
Thus ended my trade chat shenanigans.
Heh… oh man. I’m such a douchebag.
Freezing Drop?
FREEZING DROP?!
WHY DOES NOBODY POINT THESE THINGS OUT TO ME.
On a side note, you sound *exactly* like I’d imagined. Your writing and your voice are very similar.
It is terribly amusing isnt it, I remember before you began the blog, he does rant in real life the way he rants here, I loved the interview by the way, such classic you, man.
The best guest in TN ever! And I think I’m only a little biased being a mage…
Seriously I got a lot of inspiration from it, I felt proud playing the same class as this fun, cleaver guy who seams to know about everything there’s to know about magery.
I realized that it wasn’t only me who thought Hellfire was hell. That playing mage actually can be a bit challenging. And that the challenge is the point of it! Thanks’ for reminding me.
You also reminded me to take proper use of Dragons breath which I more or less accidently added to my frostfirespec. I didn’t realize it was so improved to before. I’d better check it out at once!
Only a pity that you were so inspiring that they kept taking the word from you. I would have liked to hear more of you…
So let’s start a campaign to make you a regular guest!
A good start could be to pick you for the next round table.
/cheers and hugs!
Pretty sure if they let me run on, I probably would have never stopped talking.
Then, four hours later… “So… uhh… yeah. Uhm. What was the question?”
Hilarity! I haven’t even listened to the podcast yet – this is gold as-is
