Whilst leveling up ye old hunter alt, I’ve taken it upon myself to try out some new zones, ones that were either barely experienced or skipped entirely while leveling past them on dear old mage.
One such place is Feralas, and for three and half levels, it’s been a lovely place.
Then came the Harpy quests. And halfway through them, I got killed.
“What’s the big deal?” you may say, “dying ain’t nothing new”
Well, you see, dying wasn’t the problem.
The ten minute corpse run, once you’ve figured out where you need to go (note: you may come across a ridiculously convenient ramp. Do not trust this ramp. It leads to a sudden drop off to the middle of the ocean), followed by your corpse being completely surrounded by mobs, because you’ve been gone long enough for them to all respawn. Gee. That’s fantastic.
So, no. I am not going to spend another ten minutes running all the way back. Again. Kitty has died twice trying to save my ass, the traps are resisted as a point of tradition at this point, and of course the cooldown on Feign Death doesn’t start until you stop Feigning Death…
And why is the graveyard you spawn at seemingly surrounded by night elves just waiting to shove a pole arm down your throat? That hardly seems fair.
Oh well. To Tanaris!
Hehe interesting. For me Feralas is one of my favourite places. Granted I don’t do all the quests there in one swoop and I rather do the late harpy quests after the 50 ding. Only problem is the occassional PVP that might send you on a corpse run.
I’m currently leveling a Horde Blood Elf Hunter (BM) who is now at 53 and sitting in the inn at the camp in Winterspring. I spent about 3-5 levels in Feralas as well and more this time around on the Hunter compared to the first time around in my Main Paladin. Since Hunter boy is a Skinner best to be out in the wild killing and skinning stuff.
Have really enjoyed being in Feralas and doing the quests solo. Ive done the Harpies quest as well did them back at around 47 was fun. Never died so not sure where the graveyard was that far east in the zone. All I pretty much was doing was the Yellow/Orange/Red quests which made it even more fun. I have a pet Boar “Razortusk” which is my only pet and Tank. Kinda fun knowing that I pretty much play a Tank class as well.
Most the mobs I was fighting was usually 3-5 times my level. Made it challenging and fun. However pet had aggro issues since only had Gore 4 and Charge 3 i think it is since the other 2 levels of skill are not in the game and can’t get new level training till 48. So made fighting with pet and aggro interesting as well as in Feralas and Hinterlands. I really enjoyed the zone it was so laid back there and fun as well as the scenery. I hit 300 skinning in Feralas as well. I picked up a ton of Heavy Leather and other kinds especially killing all the Hippographs. Left the zone with like 27+ full stacks of leather.
Left there run around Hinterlands a bit, a lot more than first time on Paladin. Was fun, but only did several select quests for higher XP gain. Then headed to Un’Goro and killed everything in sight and ran out of quests to do that was available. So headed to Felwoods did all that were available to so level wise, grinder Furbog quickly which was a breeze as a Hunter to Neutral. Was way easier than on my Paladin. Took about a level or two then was off to Winterspring. So far its being fun. But Feralas was definetly one my best zones as a Hunter duo.
Skinning is surprisingly lucrative. This little hunter alt of mine, after purchasing mount skill, has 80 gold currently.
This is with zero help from the main for cash.
It’s crazy!

if you were level 50, the mobs were lvl 150-250?
I usually bgo to feralas just for the sheer landscapes and outdoor feel <3
