That the Alliance players on Duskwood are [expletive] assholes, and I hate them with the fury of a thousand Pyroblasts.
Case and point. Ogri’la, I’m almost finished the Aether Ray daily. Got one more left to train up. I spot one, it’s pretty close by. Run up to it, start charging up fireball. Fireball casts, starts moving towards the Ray, and out of nowhere, this druid in kitty form appears out of nowhere and tags the mob. So, natch, the bar appears gray to me, and I now have aggro because the kitty probably just licked the darn thing and I just set it on fire. Well played, little druid, you beat a mage to the punch. But I see you managed to aggro a pair of those Crystalhide Boar thingies as well.
Well, being the general nice guy I am these days, I figure the night elf needs a wee bit of help here, seeing as how she’s undergeared and has a pair of boars kicking her ass. So I jump in, Blastwave to snag aggro, lure them off a bit, root the boars, and toss a fireblast on the Ray so’s the druid can wrangle it quickly and come help out with the boars. So the druid wrangles it, tosses lifebloom on herself, hits Cheetah form and runs for it.
Leaving me in the lurch with a pair of angry pigs who can spell reflect what feels like every mother[expletive] second.
Sure I annihilated the pigs, it took about 15 seconds to do, but it was the thought that counts.
Steal my quest mob? Ok, ok, I can kinda deal with that. You beat me to the punch, haha, points to you.
But leaving me in the lurch like that? Grabbing MY quest mob, then abandoning me to a pair of mobs I aggro’d to SAVE your [expletive] ass?
That’s not cool. I don’t care about the fact you’re a druid. You offically can go [expletive] my [expletive] [expletive] [expletive].
Whatever. I get my quest done, off I go.
Hellfire Peninsula, doing that “Siphon” quest where you kill some random demons for their blood, then drain the snot out of some high roller elves. As it turns out, hitting the elite elf people with the quest item DOES NOT tag them. The draining process itself takes about 4 seconds.
So you can guess what happens.
I start draining it, then a Paladin comes along and uses his ranged ability to tag it. So I just spent a quest item helping a Paladin finish his own quest, and natch, the jackass doesn’t even say thanks, just robs me of my quest credit and moves on. So now I gotta go find another demon mob, kill it, get some more blood, and do the whole damn thing over again.
Took all of 30 seconds, but it’s the thought that counts.
So here I am, farming the blood elf guys by the Black Temple to get some Sunfury Signets. I need to get my Scryer reputation to exalted some day, so I usually spare about twenty minutes every other day to go kill stuff there.
So this human paladin on a Nether Drake flies past me, lands, runs around half the ramp, aggros about 9 guys, runs back to where I am, then takes off. All 9 of these blood elf dudes immediately aggro on me. The Paladin then floats about twenty feet above me… and watches. I kill them all… barely. Started the fight with half mana. Doesn’t do a mage good. In the middle of drinking, he does it AGAIN. And AGAIN a couple minutes later. Then, while I was drinking on the steps, he aggro’s 8 of those spell breaker guys on me. That one killed me. Then he laughed at me. And flew away. I hate him so much.
There was a Dranei Shaman on the Isle of Quel’Danas, tagging all the sentry things with Earthshock, killing them, and then waiting for them to respawn. Never transformed them into friendly, probably didn’t even HAVE the quest. Was just being an asshole to everyone else. That was at 10pm server time. I checked back at just after 4am server time, shaman was still there. Still killing the robots, still not transforming them.
Why are they doing this? Why are they intentionally trolling me, and probably other people as well?
I can’t think of a reason.
But I can say this. Whenever I am near Ogri’la, no alliance will get to complete the Ray wrangling daily. If I can’t wrangle them, alliance sure as hell aren’t going to get to.
Same with the drain quest in Hellfire. I dare you alliance [expletive]tards to beat the cast time of Fireblast.
In other news, I have 2600 gold.
This is why I love a PvP server.
Of course, if they want to be [expletive]tards there, they just kill me outright.
Aww not all Alliance are A grade asshats I promise. I had a good time with a Tauren hunter in Nagrand today while doing that weird gas reading quest thing dancing and smiling and blushing. I’ve had plenty of experiences where Horde and Alliance help each other out or apologise for nabbing mobs that the other was going for.
Sounds like Duskwood is indeed full of tards though :/
Rip,
I have found myself vengefully tolerant of Alliance, lately. If we can co-exist in an area without intentionally interfering with one another I let peace remain. If one Alliance screws up my day, I spend an hour messing with all of them.
I am hoping that over time they will realize that one jackass messing with a Tauren Hunter will mess with their entire clan for a full 60 minutes.
My class is designed to grind these mobs. I don’t struggle with any of them, and I have a pet to help do my evil bidding.
It is my goal that they will give up their quest for the day all because of that one Nether Ray they thought they’s kill to be funny.
Track Beasts, Kill them all…every one, don’t loot, and yell [Expletive] you!
I get drowned in spit.
I feel your pain. I’m really beginning to suspect that a not insubstantial number of people you see in-game are psychopaths; they’re not actually evil, but utterly incapable of feeling empathy for other people, or caring about the consequences of their actions.
I suppose it’s because they couldn’t get away with it in real life, but can in-game. Every time someone does something like this, I try to imagine a sad, emaciated person sitting at a desk covered with empty bottles of cheap booze purposefully ruining others’ play time because they have no real power in their own lives.
And then I feel sorry for them.
… Well, briefly. Then I go back to fuming and wishing I could smack people over the internet.
Full disclosure: I play Alliance (70 gnome rogue, no less), but not on your server.
I totally feel your pain, though, but in reverse. Not nearly as many posteriorhats on Anvilmar, at least that I’ve run across, but enough to send me into a near-rage at times. Like you, I’ve had plenty of people mess with my dailies — on Anvilmar, there seems to be a daily contest to try to ninja the Skettis escort quest, regardless of who has it staked out, or for how long. That one doesn’t bother me too much — actually kind of fun, unless you’re sitting at a spawn point for 30-40 minutes praying for a ninja-free respawn opportunity…
And I’ve also had plenty of people (Ally and Horde alike) screw me up on the Ray Wrangling daily. Kill a ray while I’m about to lasso it, for instance. Or tag it from a distance while I’m standing next to it.
As a miner, another favorite is when I spot a juicy node, and am killing a mob or two right next to it, when along comes Mr. Opportunist who thinks I’m killing this one (or two) mob at random — out of dozens in the area — for no reason (certainly not related to the Rich Adamantite Vein three feet away), and proceeds to mine it while I’m downing the mob.
Grr.
Luckily, I have far more stories of general good will and cooperation with Horde folk. Nothing like a good Tauren-Gnome Dance-Off to get the party started….
; )
I will say, though, you seem to have an unfair percentage of total TOOLS on your server — my apologies.
Braveship
Most likely that shaman was trying to farm for motes of mana in order to make Primal Manas. I wouldn’t do this because like you said it is being a total asshat to all the other quest doers. But I have to confessed though, that I have gone up to the throne up in Thrallmar in order to farm for motes of fire because #1 it has a pretty damn good drop rate for motes of fire and #2 killing the mobs can still help the people charge their little flame thingies anyways and #3 half the time people help you kill them speeding up the farming process.
I am an alliance mage and play on US Kul Tiras. We have some real asshats, but I think the percentage of retards outweighs them. How many 15 year olds can ONE server have???
Oh, one more thing. I was on my NE druid the other day; she’s finally in Outland braving those horrid Hellfire quests. The place is crawling with DKs now. Lovely. Anyway, I was going to kill the big guy in the fel orc encampment near Honor Hold. I see a fellow alliance DK making his way down the hall toward him so I figure I’d be nice and invite him (after asking him to join via /tell) so we can down him and go on our merry way. I even stopped, stealthed, at the door to the mob to see if he would accept before I killed it. He finishes the last mob he was on, declines my invite, and proceeds to death grip the mob, tagging it, killing it, and running off. Of course when I ask him wtf is wrong with him, he eventually ignores me after not answering. A guildie of mine told me from an alt that the same guy has been acting similarly in other places. I told everyone I knew to screw with him when able.
It’s so infuriating when it’s not only your own faction, but that they won’t even own up to being an asshat on purpose.
